It was correctly pointed out today that FEMA's role is to come in AFTER a disaster, not DURING one. Action at the time is for police, firefighters, state militia and federal troops-depending on the SIZE of the disaster.

It should be obvious by now that we can never build a FEMA big enough to take the place of all those assets that the pinheaded governor failed to ask for.

And all the talk about the "Homeland Security Department" is a JOKE. Joe Lieberman dreamed up a gaggle of worthless bureaucrats to take the heat when the shit hits the fan, thus protecting SENATORS who have been allowed to occupy their office for TOO LONG.

Time to have a hurricane sweep through the Congress, and leave the senile and brain-addled stuck in the attack. November, 2006 and November, 2008 are good potential hurricane seasons...
