I agree. We need to take some personal responsibility.
But when you are at the bottom of the poverty line you do not have the cash for extra gas, a spare truck, spare water, a bunch of spare food.

Bozos planned the evacuation. Bush was at the ranch, Rice was shopping for $1,000 shoes just like the people in NO, Cheney off in Wyoming partying. All had a delayed response. Brown the horse trainer who got fired from that plum job did not do anything at all.

Of course Bush and boyz who have the purse strings, the Guard in Iraq, control FEMA etc. etc. one to blame the Mayor who two days before the storm hit asked that NO be declared a disaster area and to call in the troops. The words went on deaf ears.

We cannot really say at this point what about the next time as we may have from 1,000 to 10,000 people who did not survive who all had relatives. Let's remember the current victims before we move on to how well Georgeco and boyzs will do n the next round. Frankly let's hope there is not another devastating cane this season and that as soon as possible some houses are cleaned and I mean the ones in DC.
