IMO those pilots should be court marshaled. When your commander says to deliver supplies and return, you do just that no more. I lived through Hurricane Andrew, and much of the news coming out of there was overblown BS, I am sure most of those people would be rescued in any event. Meanwhile there may be some military family's bivouacked in a tent or hanger, because family housing is destroyed, that are short some water or food because these idiot's went on their own adventure.

After Andrew I recall that it was over a week before the military other than the Guard and Coast Guard (which is actually DOT and not part of that rule) responded. They put up mobility tents for refugees before FEMA could respond with their trailers. There were complaints about slow response then too but the State and Cities responded as soon as they could cut away the trees and move debris. Their was no bashing of G.H. Bush. He came to Miami that day, but that didn't accomplish anything but photo ops for his election.
