On an early morning radio interview, New Orleans Mayor Ray Nagin said that water was coming over the levee system in the Lower 9th Ward, especially in the Florida Avenue area.

So, even the mayor thought the levee system had held and that water was simply coming "over" the levee.

What is wrong with you? Seriously? Levees often breach in that manner........it was expected in this storm particularly if Katrina had deadheaded into NO. In fact, two of the levees breached in the same way.........the water came over the top. The other was damaged by a ship. Over time, through erosion, the damage became worse to all three. This is not rocket science. Its the reality.

One wonders what might have happened had the pumping systems been designed to keep pumping during a flood. Duh.

The power went out. You can't run pumping stations without power. Do you understand?
