Good question.

I've never voted in a primary so I never had to face that choice before. I have some problems with both of them. My main problem with Bush is his lack of control on government spending. I don't think you can give him 100% of the blame, but its not like he fought hard to control spending and failed. He never uses the veto, and he doesn't lobby congress hard against spending increases. Even his initial budgets have a lot of new or expanded spending in them.

My biggest problem with McCain is that I am an opponent of his central idea (or at least the specific laws, bills and proposals he has pushed under that idea) campaign finance reform.

I have other more minor problems with both of them, but I would probably have at least minor issues with every realilistic presidential candidate.

OTOH I can't think of any candidate that I would definitely, without hesitation, vote for over both of these guys. I guess you could say that I have a hard time getting exited about politicians.
