The Nazis needed an ever more encompassing and powerful Heimatlandsicherheit Ministry, on their way to total destruction. The United States has never needed a Heimat Security Ministry and we certainly don't need one now. Combining the FBI, CIA, NSA, FEMA and who knows what else into a mighty bureaucratic imperium, will not make any of these agencies more intelligent or more effective. Indeed it will produce exactly the opposite effect and make us less safe. If the greatly delayed FEMA response to hurricane Katrina did not convince you of this fact, additional fiascoes in the future eventually will. When you place your faith in the benefits of an ever larger bureaucracy, you are guaranteed to be disappointed. .
