Yes indeed. In fact, at any given moment most people are just a breath away from total annihilation.

We never know the alternative outcome because it did not happen.

But, what if the police were chasing somebody just as you were crossing the street? What if your car blew both front tires as you were driving the freeway? What if a bolt of lightning came out of the sky and you were the tallest thing around?

I'm interested in this topic because I myself have come within a hair's breadth of annihilation more times than I care to count, and came out without a scratch.

One can never be too careful in life. Too fearful, yes. Too careful, no.
