Are you trying to say that if they did nothing it couldn't be considered miserable?

They certainly didn't do "nothing". I'm just saying that if you people feel that FEMA made mistakes, let's hear exactly what they were and allow someone here to challenge them.

You can't reasonably declare them to have screwed up just because some people had to suffer. Unfortunately, when a major city is flooded overnight, people will die and people will suffer. There is nothing FEMA or anyone else can do to stop it, UNLESS local officials have the forsight and gumption to evacuate the area BEFORE the flood.

If anything the federal government's actions should obviously be lauded for their getting in and saving thousands of lives so quickly. The speed with which these people got in New Orleans and started saving lives is, quite simply, amazing.
