I did a good bit of driving over the holiday weekend in Western PA and was surprised that there were no lines at the gas stations. Whenever I pulled in to top off there was a pump waiting. It seemed that the price spike sharply reduced the holiday weekend driving. We vacationed at Lake Erie and again it was much less crowded than last year at this time despite beautiful weather. I suspect the lines were in the areas where supply was immediately curtailed. I ran into one Sunoco that was out of regular the day after Katrina hit.
