"thousands dead" ... Sorry ... 30,000 to 50,000 ... and it's going to be horrific to see when the water has been pumped out of New Orleans. It will be the worst sight any of us will have ever seen. The percentage of the corpses that are those of Black people will be astonishing. The world will see it. The criticism of local, state, and federal officials who neglected the poor and elderly of the Gulf Coast will stench the country for a decade. The daily criticism and cynicism that will galvanize in this country will make the political, cultural, and emotional environment here unpalatable. /john
