Los Angeles has quite a number of vibrant downtowns, but none of them are in Los Angeles.

Downtown activity is found in Pasadena, Redondo Beach, West Hollywood, Santa Monica, Westwood and many others.

They're all part of what people consider Los Angeles. Yet the official downtown area of Los Angeles belongs to the homeless after dark.

Attempt after attempt to "revitalize" downtown Los Angeles have failed. In truth, I think there is very little reason for it to exist. If they moved City Hall elsewhere I think it would go into an irreparable decline.
