I hope that REASONABLE people will realize the dilemna here. If Bush VIOLATED the insurrection act and sent in the active Military it would have violated a very serious protection of the states from the federal govt. If he violated it and those troops began shooting looters (which most of us would have supported)all hell would have broken out in congress IMHO from the left wing. If the troops were sent in unarmed and THEY were shot by looters ALL HELL would have broken out from the people. PERSONALLY I think Bush did exactly the right thing, I also think that with the exception of some local examples (such as no water sent to the overpass next to the Superbowl, the violence allowed in the Superbowl, and the failure to utilize those school buses to evacuate the people who needed them or AT LEAST save the school buses from flooding) that all in all about as much government assistance as could be expected in the time frame was reasonable. jdn
