i also wonder about that demand fade. NO was easily the biggest national shocker since 9/11, and in terms of wealth destruction maybe the biggest domestic disaster event since the Civil War, so people were riveted to their TV sets. i, for one, didn't go anywhere for about two days and i think a lot of people were like that. that is a short-term knock to all economic activity and the retailers probably felt it as well.
