I dunno. Construction and war have been pretty much the sole contributors to whatever the heck is Bush's recovery.

Since construction is obviously a big deal after Katrina, is this going to be a net positive for the region purely in economic terms?

What if it makes the administration get the heck out of Iraq and take monies that would have been spent there and bring them back home? Arguably, spending here is investing in assets whereas spending them in Iraq in bullets and such is just throwing it away.

OTOH, construction in Iraq has slowed to a crawl because of LACK OF MONEY. The british company that ran the airport is outta there because they haven't been paid in 7 months.

What a mess. We could use some optimism here. Not administration delusion but optimism.
