Taikun I live off the grid in a very cloudy area in HI. Up high on the hill. I am adding 12 more 70W Seimens panels(installed cost $5,000) as soon as they get off the boat. I have a 5kw diesel back up. I generate much cheaper electric from the generator than my neighbors pay Helco(about 1/3 the price). Add in the solar and it's a no brainer. My neighbor just got his first electric bill for his new house...$329. That is before the 17% increase helco just put in before which is BEFORE the recent spike in energy. In less than ten years I will have turned a profit on my solar/diesel system. The times they are a changin'
