Dough,

You slightly misread my statement. I think that the lack of decent zoning keeps Houston from being walkable. And, you're right, smoking hot and humid there, who would want to walk? The place is so sprawled out now, even though they're going to be booming for years, I doubt that Houston will have a vibrant downtown(s). It was far more sophisticated than I expected when I visited. Still, it won't get a mention in a Rolling Stones' song.
