Finally, Shimon Peres says something that makes sense: Peres: If the Palestinian Authority fails to assert control over Gaza there is no point in resuming peace talks September 10, 2005, 11:39 AM (GMT+02:00) The Palestinians have been granted in Gaza their first chance ever to prove they can govern themselves in their own territory, said Israel’s vice premier Shimon Peres in a radio interview Saturday Sept 10. If they fail this first test now and the terrorists take over, the Palestinians will forfeit precious international assistance. If they attack, Israel will resort to measures for its defense. Peres opposed future unilateral steps. Future progress must be achieved through dialogue.
