Republicans acted with honor. They granted Democrats their moment of dishonor. They probably expected Democrats to behave reasonably in the future. History has shown that the attack against Robert Bork was merely the stating point of the outing of Democrat immoral behavior. They tried to up the ante against Clarence Thomas. They really won the battle, because after Bork we got Souter and Kennedy. Both are republican appointees, and both side with liberals at least some times. President Bush 41's appointee, David Souter is a charter member of the liberal wing of the Supreme Court.

Remember that after the democrat moment of dishonor, they have taken many moe moments to expose their own dishonorable behavior to the public. Has this been one of the things that helped turn the tide against Democrats?
