The mayor did issue evacuations warnings. He issued a mandatory evacuation with plenty of time for folks to respond. All though some have said that he didn't send busses...he did. He provided transportation for those that wished to take advantage of it...busses ran. I heard Nagin say it himself. Either you are a liar or Nagin is.

But the larger issue is where was the federal government? Where was Bush? Where was the National Guard?

Look...if you're the president, and you know that there is a killer cat 5 storm in the gulf and the NWS is saying the projected target is NOLA there's only one thing that a president should be doing, and that is acting like a president. Bush wouldn't know how to be a president any more than Brownie could be the head of FEMA.

If you are a real leader, you realize that a severe threat to human life has been presented and you mobilize. Bush is an asshole. He'd rather play his guitar and make photo ops. I can no longer stomach this poor excuse for a president...a poor excuse for a man much less a president.

Days stretched into weeks...and still people are stranded and starving and at risk for disease. They don't have the basics...food water and shelter. And the National Guard...when they arrive have shoot to kill orders. Helloooooo! This isn't freaking Iraq. It's America.

Sure there were a few bad apples out there...and some needed to have force brought down on them. But mostly people were trying to stay alive in the midst of the largest disaster to ever hit the USA. Shit let a tv or two get looted...who gives a crap anyway...so long as we aren't shooting folks that are looking for food. And if you read my link regarding the paramedics...they had their food and water taken away! It's absurd.

There is only one man who bears the full responsibility for the outcome and the aftermath in NOLA and all along the Gulf...and that man is George W. Bush. The buck stops at the desk of the oval office. Too bad he was on vacation...and trapsing around the country on photo ops to notice that he had a job to do.

If Iraq was an indictment of his incompetence, then Katrina was the last straw. Impeach this idiot now!
