Long story short, I don't think it's yet possible to make a good assessment.

True. But I think a lot of conclusions are being jumped to. A couple of days ago it was going to take 80 plus days to pump the water out. Now they are down to 30. We have gone from 10,000 dead to not very many. The decision to force everyone to leave is being selectively enforced. I think mainly on people they think are possible criminals. The oil/chemical mix that everyone is worried about was very, very diluted. Etc, etc.

I suspect that anyone who gets in there and cleans up their place will be able to save it. But the boys with the bulldozers are waiting impatiently. I think that the old guard in the city is looking upon this as an golden opportunity to do a massive cleanout of the "bad" neighborhoods.
