The people dieing from starvation should have been your first clue that FEMA didn't supply water and food.

This was not FEMA's responsibility. This was the responsibility first of the local government, then of the state.

Red Cross and Salvation Army were BOTH waiting outside the city with truckloads of supplies for these people, and the governor of Louisiana refused to allow them entry into New Orleans.

admit the guy screwed up.

Who? Who is "the guy"? I'll tell you right quick that the Mayor screwed up and the governor screwed up just as badly. And I'll admit that there is evidence to suggest that Brown was having difficulty cutting through red tape. But overall, FEMA has done an excellent job.

You are the only soul on earth that thinks FEMA did a "great job".

Not the ONLY, however, I am in the minority. Frankly, I am one of a very few who are looking at this problem analytically rather than emotionally. The first newscaster I've seen who "gets it" is Brit Hume -- who, today, clearly set out where the problems were and whose responsibility they were. I recommend you catch Fox News Sunday this afternoon and watch the panel segment, because Hume is one of the few who truly comprehends the situation.

The problem, analytically, is that you cannot leap to the conclusion that FEMA bungled the job just because people didn't get enough food and water. FEMA can't solve all problems, was never designed to, and specifically is not chartered with that responsibility. The BUNGLE occurred first when the Mayor totally blew off the evacuation (a process that FEMA has no role whatsoever in) then the governor held up federal and Red Cross access after the storm.

Certainly, for something as important as this, you should put politics aside.

Politics isn't an issue for me. Only the Dems, like Landrieu, have politicized it.

Even Walmart did a better job than FEMA.

The ignorance expressed on this thread and elsewhere on this subject is amazing. That you would come here and post, being so damned uninformed, is just amazing. Do your homework, figure out who is responsible for what, then come back and make your case.
