Which is what I've been saying for a while. That was before the hurricane.

That's fine but it is inarguable that (a) it wasn't enough and (b) the Mayor told them to bring 5 days of food and water with them. Thus, at least the MAYOR comprehended the insufficiency.

The argument that FEMA is somehow responsible for this nightmare is absurd and reflects a clear misunderstanding of what FEMA is and is not supposed to do.

The fact that the local authorities refused access to aid agencies places blame for the time without food and water on their shoulders.

If you want to argue about whether there are some things FEMA could do better, I'm right there with you; I'm certain there are. But the blame for this disaster rests with state and local officials.

If you want to blame the feds for something, blame them for the apparently low death rate given the circumstances, since the feds were the ONLY PEOPLE rescuing people beginning immediately after the storm.
