Michael,

being mostly discretionary trader I still have certain system - method of reading, set of setups, citeria, parameters etc. Eric went much farther than I did on the road of "tightening" his system up to the degree where it can be automated. Still, I do not necessary see it as contradiction - Eric's approach is not opposite to what you formulate as Douglas' approach, they are in the same universe as I see it. It's just about the degree of discretion.
