Hi John. The USSR used to have the state ration things. They had lots of queues for some reason, lack of profits and general economic malaise.

What a surprise. "Profiteering" is just pricing of supply and demand in action, which ensures continuing supplies for those who really need the products.

People were NOT flocking to get into the non-profiteering USSR. They have flocked to the profiteering USA for centuries. People like profits. Governments do too, as they tax them, extracting down to their hind teeth.
