what is your point.

oil companies will make the same profits if it's the service stations (independent business person) that are gouging prices. this has already been shown in my earlier post where new jersey state law was being broken (you can only change your price once a day, dealers were changing prices two and three times a day but their cost didn't go up.

why allow huge profits vs reasonable profits , if you allocate then those who cannot afford higher prices may at least be able to have more spendable income. vs rich who can afford to buy without concern for conservation and run up prices higher than necessary.

I do not see a lot of folks ready to jump into the oil industry. it does take some bucks. i do see xon making 6 billion dollars each quarter. seems a little extra profit falling their way because of what? shortage of gas.. nope ceo said on cnbc his refineries got all the crude they need to stay in operation. so they are gouging the public on a commodity we all need to live. it is wrong. your case in russia you mentioned little profit.. not the case in this situation. just the opposite.

we also have controls on milk , electricity, and i am sure other items. i am not suggesting price control. but allocation of products. tell joe dealer if he wants a load of gas he is going to get what he purchased last year. not a drop more. also suggest he can sell it out in a day or make sure his hours of available gas are throughout the week so he can sell in the snack shop. otherwise lose more business.

IF you only can get ten gallons a fill up then you will spend all your time in lines if you drive an suv. so maybe more people will park the suv or trade it in. this will bring down gas demand and perhaps prices too? meanwhile you are not taking advantage of lower income people who also require this commodity to live.

see ya
