I don't like the $2,000 program because it rewards people for foolish behavior.

I bore substantial expenses/lost revenue due to the hurricanes last year. The only handout I got was 1 meal at a shelter I stayed in for the better part of a day. After that experience (nothing like having a virulently racist elderly white lady on your left, and a young white lady who speaks ebonics on your right, for an eight hour stretch) I did the responsible thing and prepared detailed and effective evacuation plans ... nobody offered to compensate me for that, nor did I seek compensation.

As a self-employed person, I recognized that very often the answer to a problem is "You are screwed." The only thing you can do is accept it and move forward without complaint.

I manage my affairs so as to prevent myself from becoming a burden on society ... I don't think it is unreasonable to expect the same from others.
