13-Sep-05 07:00 ET In Play Piper Jaffray downgrades BRKS to Mkt Perform and downgrades KLIC to Underperform : Piper Jaffray downgrades BRKS to Mkt Perform from Outperform and cuts their tgt to $15 from $18. Firm downgrades KLIC to Underperform from Mkt Perform and cuts their tgt to $8 from $10. For BRKS, they think the co's software story is not materializing, and in the OEM division, opportunities with AMAT are likely still imminent, but they feel that it is likely not enough to drive significant upside to 2006 ests and margins will continue to be pressured. For KLIC they cite their research, which indicates that a significant portion of the current wire bonder demand is associated with the increase in flip chip substrate pricing. They believe this trend could reverse in early 2006 as: 1) more flip chip substrate supply comes on line; and 2) increase in gold prices could make wire bonding relatively less attractive.
