Elmatador Re: "tried my hand" I told you I grew up on a big farm. But by profession I am an engineer and worked most of my life in industry, both as a company man and as a business owner. I've even dabbled in real estate. <g>

Later in life I tried my hand at various projects and living in in different parts of the third world, living in Southeast Asia for several years. Thats where I experienced tropical farming first hand, a couple of corn crops with wifes family who farm there and several big vegetable gardens and an attempted business venture involving a type of hybrid corn "optimized" for use near the equator and at 2000 feet elevation. And yes, there was terrible poverty there, though nothing compared to Africa.

I read your posts; you are a cell phone equipment installation guy who gets assigned to some very interesting (and dangerous) places and who likes to brag about not going to college. <grin> I envy you in a way, for I love the excitement of doing things in a rough and dangerous place. And I agree with a number of your opinions, though not all by any means. But I do like the open and straight forward way you express your opinions. On the other hand, sometimes you and others here are overly critical of the USA, which is after all, my country.
