Of course, I appreciate that and, indeed, I am one who expresses the nostalgia. No-one likes to lose privilege and watch many things they have taken for granted suddenly vanish or change for the worse. Fortunately for myself and family, we were reasonably financially secure and therefore have been able to weather the storm of change. Others have not been so lucky and for them the change has been disastrous. In another way, too, I was fortunate because I had been conditioning myself to a new world by reading books such as the one mentioned below. And of course, it could have been a whole lot worse -- we were blessed to have Mandela and not someone like Pol Pot or Mugabe.

Interesting choice. I think the Palestinians will be in Hell for some time to come despite the withdrawal of Israeli settlers from Gaza.
