By the numbers: Valance names CFO
Wednesday September 14, 11:35 am ET

Valence Technology Inc. named Thomas Mezger as chief financial officer.

Mezger formerly served as controller for Portland, Ore.-based Precision Castparts Corp., which was bought by Cooper Cameron Corp., in the Asia-Pacific region.

Previous to that, Mezger served as chief financial officer at MCK Communications Inc. and vice president of operations and CFO at Enhanced Messaging Systems Inc.

James Akridge, Valence president and CEO, highlighted Mezger's experience in the Asia-Pacific region.

"With most of Valence's manufacturing operations located in China, his expertise will be a strong asset for the company as we continue to refine our internal processes and ramp production to fulfill more orders," Akridge says.

At Valence, Mezger will oversee all of Valence's financial and reporting requirements and will initially focus on financial software and reporting infrastructure installation and enhancements for the company's operations in China.

Austin-based Valence (Nasdaq: VLNC - News) manufactures Lithium-ion rechargeable batteries used in laptop computers and other electronic devices.
