I agree. Things like this are done for a reason. Direct e-mails to shareholders are probably done to facilitate a shakeout, get the bad news out of the way, etc. When something exciting is announced in a couple of months, involving Corel Computer Corporation or strengthening sales, the stock will go up, those who bought at $5 US will get a great deal, those who sold out will feel betrayed and burned as they should. You do have to feel badly for all shareholders, these shenanigans never seem to end. Personally I do believe they will end, I am a huge fan of Corel and I genuinely think this is all an effort to clean up the messiness once and for all.

I dumped at $8.95 Cdn mainly because I needed the money for awhile, there were far better prospects out there. I kept saying to myself, "unless it can go above $8.80 (Cdn) I ain't buying back in". It did so for a day or two but only weakly so I held off. Pure LUCK.

I have to say I've adjusted my target. Now I'll be waiting to see the bottom and waiting until it trades back through $5 US (assuming a bottom of 4 1/2). If it can't make it, that keeps me out of a falling stock.

I happen to think entering at $5 US after this is all over with will be a very profitable strategy. I also think they will come in with strong sales in the next few quarters and will be around stronger than ever in 20 years. The underlying strength of the software never fails to impress me...on a par with Netscape. Buggy at first but powerful and leading-edge. WP7 is an extremely powerful package, WP8 great value. The draw and TextArt features alone are awesome and just add 99 other 'reasons'...MS Office has some advantages admittedly but Corel will be the choice for power users in 10 years because THEY AREN'T AS COMPLACENT.

I have a few quibbles with the way they throw around money. Let's hope they try to cut costs and act like the small company they are. Yes, that will even have to come at the expense of users like the one who posted on the thread not knowing about a new release. I think it's atrocious that they wouldn't send out the junk mail. At the same time if you're a WP fan you eventually will clue in. Just drop into a computer store, watch a TV ad, go to the Web site, read a computer mag, or hear about it in the press (free 'guerilla' advertising, the kind Corel should continue to do).

I have been by stores which are plastered with Corel Wordperfect paraphenalia. I think there are still plenty of months and years ahead for the sales to pick up. And in places like South Africa and other emerging democracies it will be years before we see sales but I think we will see them. These are huge untapped retail and corporate markets, many of which are working with 'primitive' WP 5.1 now, and a percentage of which will upgrade with Corel. Sure the majority will go to Microsoft for now. But Corel will be there.
