Those of you who think that Corel is starting with a clean slate, better think again. I predict they will have a massive write-off in the Java part of the enterprise. And their sales are declining in their core product of Draw. Adobe Illustrator is moving up fast and will eventually overtake it. Cowpland needs to hire a CEO with powers of life and death, a person who understands business and deals, someone who can keep Cowpland's flights of fancy in check. Cowpland has great imagination and vision, but it needs to be combined with business sense and discipline. At the moment, Corel's only product that is well thought of by analysts is Ventura. The others are tired or have rough edges.
