Re: And don't worry, we have had our share of fantasists and crazies in SA -- on the right and the left.
But, unlike in Israel, they didn't prevail. White South Africans didn't offer Mandela and his black constituency a Gaza-like Bantustan to set up his "independent state", nor did they keep South Africa's capital for whites only.... Of course, as far as real estate and financial/economical power are concerned, whites still own South Africa. But then, that's another crucial difference with Israel/Palestine: it's not a religious/civilizational tug-of-war... If black South Africans are driven out of this or that (posh) suburb/neighborhood, it's merely because they can't afford it --of course, white segregation still plays a part. Yet it's totally different from the way Jewish Israelis scheme to grab houses and properties in and around Jerusalem... Besides, from a black/African perspective, there is a genuine, objective rationale for keeping "hardworking whites" in (South) Africa. Somehow, the whole issue boils down to the blacks saying: "Okay, you whites came here, you messed with us, abused us, lorded it over us... But now, you've pulled the plug on all that apartheid shit, however painfully. Okay, you stay here... so far so good. Now, let's see how we share the pie --let's split the GDP more fairly among us...." Contrariwise, the Israel/Palestine crisis has nothing to do with a "fair split of the cake"! Arabs didn't, and still don't, need the Jews to handle their oil and gas resources! Africans, however, rely on white technological/agricultural expertise....
