Car production grows 46.3 pct

China's car industry grew 16 percent year on year in August, with car production soaring 46.3 percent, according to statistics released by the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) Wednesday.
According to a monthly NBS report, the industrial value added of the industrial sector, covering all state-owned enterprises and non-state enterprises, each with annual sales of over 5 million yuan, reached 596.8 billion yuan (73.7 billion US dollars) in August.

Meanwhile, the industrial products sales rate in August hit 98.28 percent, down 0.51 percentage points over the year earlier period. The export delivery of industrial enterprises totaled 397.2 billion yuan in the month, up 21.3 percent year on year.

Relatively rapid growth of between 21.1 percent to 29.2 percent was registered for the industrial added value of the ferrous metals mining industry, non-metal mining industry, ferrous metals smelting and pressing industry, timber and bamboo manufacturing industry, textiles, farm produce processing, and other industries.

The output of raw coal increased 12.1 percent; that of crude oil, 3.2 percent; natural gas, 20.8 percent, electricity, 12 percent; iron ore, crude steel and steel products, 27.6 percent, 26.8 percent and 27.6 percent respectively; cement, 14.1 percent, and automobiles, 15.8 percent.

For the January-August period, the industrial sector posted a growth of 16.3 percent, with the industrial added value reaching 4,411.5 billion yuan.
