The sexual harassment sensitivity was raised during the Anita Hill hearings. Prior to that hearing, men and women freely exchanged "dirty" jokes with each other.

I have male friends that laugh with me over the old days. One of my friends laughed about how he would never have kept a job cause he was always making comments that had sex as a core topic.

If any man got "out of line", we took care of the situation ourselves and told the intruder to, " Back off."

Many young professional women are offended by simple terms. One such word is, " Babe". I know a gal that was highly insulted by the use of that word and the older gentleman that used it had to leave his workplace.

As part of an older group, I don't get offended by various words that offend younger gals. Maybe because I am from a time that was full of sexual workplace games that were much worse.

Frankly, Clarence Thomas' actions didn't seem particularly harassing as far as I was concerned. I certainly did not want Thomas appointed because of his politics, but his comments pertaining to a few "dirty" jokes didn't seem harsh at all.
