I don't advocate throwing out quarterly reports, but replacing it with a mechanism where the quarterly report is only one factor where performance of the company is measured. That is a replacement that would have to mostly happen in the minds of investors. Companies could help it along by trying to stress the long term, but I bet that their projections in to the future are not likely to be accurate (usually missing on the optimistic side). Tim
