sonic, I fail to see where JDSU is mentioned in the article. It seems to more about Corning letting Avanex go gentle into that good night.

True if Avnx becomes insolvent it might advantage JDSU assuming the bankrupt pieces don't go to a competitor of JDSU.

JDSU will be last man standing.

But I think something else is going on. The volume has been tremendous. To find comparable volume you have to go back almost two years to the Alcatel takeover rumour, but here we have no news and no rumours except maybe a Google dark fiber play or ebay now that it's bought skype may build it's own network.

The key driving force is that more capacity is going to be needed.
