Maurice Re: "Give me your tired, your poor, ect." Actually, the 1883 Emma Lazarus poem was itself really a piece of political propaganda and was promoted at the time by immigration advocates in an effort to stifle rising opposition to the recent flood of immigrants. It didn't work though and quotas were imposed and the immigration door was slammed firmly shut in 1914, using the outbreak of war in Europe as the excuse. The poem was political propaganda then and remains so today. And we're getting ready to slam shut the immigration door again, come hell or high water. <g>

BTW, sorry to hear the of Helengrad victory. She has been in office since 1999? Another term is too long. It is the same with these Bushes. You had 41 and now 43 but you have so many of these same underlings and fellow travelers. And another Bush here in Florida. Surely the Republicans could have found another candidate. You hear of way too much of this around the world. Need to get a "new broom" and clean house every so often. And now, we have Bush 41 and Clinton ever so chummy. This is bad for democracy.
