<<<>>Yes but what it does is piss off the consumer and makes them reluctant to shell out any $$ for either technology. Which in turn, hurts CUBE's short term earnings. Also, it allows CUBE competitors to ramp up their technology by the time everything happens. The timing was right for CUBE NOW. It might not be later on. >>>>

This is a player issue. either the consumer wants to have a Divx, or they want a standard player that they can play dvd rentals, self generated content (using a future product using DVx , the cube codec), or audio cd's. The consumer will make a choice based on the features. This why cable can co-exist with satalite and pay per view.. Quality vs convenience. It will not be a vhs beta war.
This is just another type of dvd player with an option to do this silly rental disposable funtion. Personally, I agree what was said before about going to the blockbusters anyway to return and get another movie.
