I think there were several factors that threw the stock off this morning. After Slocum handed Amati a back-handed compliment in the WSJ and Zack's picked it up and gave it a negative slant, it was like getting tripped out of the starting blocks. So the stock was hurt from the outset. Then when JS was presenting, the market was tanking and anyone following could have assumed he was making it drop, however, based on what I've been told, this couldn't have been the case.

Highlights from the two reports I got:

JS did a fabulous job. . . the room was filled. . . alot of strength between TI and Amati and NEC and Amati. . . 4-channel C6X later in '98 confirmed. . . 2-channel chip in 1Q '98. . . BCTEL margins low at first then build to 40%. . . HKT/NEC contract $350M. . . Siemens is biggest customer. . . few realize this. . . ethernet to modem card. . . NEC/VDSL prototypes end of '97, product ship 1Q '98. .. all HKT's modems are Amati's. . . 2M lines building to 8M lines. . . one year lead in VDSL. . . England, Germany & France want prototypes ASAP. . . 1998 revs will be 2 to 3X '97's, 1999 revs will be 2 to 3X '98's. . .revs in '98 $30 to 40M*. . . GTE no longer reconditioning MSFT lines, they're fine as is. . . $2M in software royalties from TI next year. . . weakness in last Q b/c BCTEL didn't take shipment as soon as expected. . . confirmed Ina City, Japan. . . working with Siemens on new DSLAM. . . AMTX makes all Siemens modems at both ends, they do other C/O stuff. . . . BT may start with CAP, but will require Fujitus and ALA to tear out any and replace with DMT later. . . can get Overture8 up to 10Mbps. . . target is 8Mbps at 10-11K feet. . . 9 vendors want OEM deals. . .

*based on what they have in hand right now (this from other sources).

Any of this information could have been skewed in the translation.

More later.
