StrataGold cuts 3.48 gpt Au over 46.35 m at Tassawini

2005-09-01 09:33 ET - News Release

Mr. Terry Tucker reports

STRATAGOLD INTERSECTS 46.35 METRES OF 3.48 G/T GOLD AT TASSAWINI, GUYANA

StrataGold Corp. has received the results for an additional five diamond-drill holes, as well as additional reverse-circulation (RC) drilling results from the Tassawini west zone, Tassawini, Guyana. To date, 26 diamond-drill holes totalling 4,226 metres have been completed at Tassawini west and east, and assays for the first six holes were previously announced. Highlights of the latest assay results include hole SD010, which returned 3.48 grams per tonne gold over 46.35 metres from 26.5 metres to a depth of 72.85 metres, including nine metres averaging 5.8 grams per tonne gold from a depth of 26.5 metres to 35.5 metres, and 13.5 metres at an average grade of 6.55 grams per tonne from 49 metres to a depth of 62.5 metres. The true width of this zone is estimated to be a minimum of 40 metres.

Hole SD011 intersected two intervals of significant gold mineralization including 19.65 metres averaging 0.75 gram per tonne gold from the collar to a depth of 19.65 metres in saprolite, and a second zone averaging 2.05 grams per tonne over 43.65 metres from 31.2 metres to 74.85 metres in saprolite and bedrock. Hole SD007 returned 43.75 metres averaging 1.5 grams per tonne gold from the collar to a depth of 43.75 metres, including 3.81 grams per tonne over 11.15 metres from the drill collar to a depth of 11.15 metres. Hole SD008 intersected two mineralized intervals, with an upper zone averaging 1.1 grams per tonne over 15 metres from a depth of 2.5 metres to 17.5 metres, and a lower zone averaging 2.2 grams per tonne over 27 metres, from 32.5 metres to 59.5 metres, including 4.42 grams per tonne over 10.5 metres from a depth of 41.5 metres to 52 metres. Hole SD009 intersected two new zones in the near surface and a deeper mineralized interval averaging 1.5 grams per tonne over 19.5 metres from a depth of 92.5 metres to 112 metres. Table No. 1 is a summary of the latest diamond-drilling results for the Tassawini west zone.

Diamond-drilling results

Diamond-drill results to date from the Tassawini west zone demonstrate that high-grade intersections persist over significant widths in both saprolite and hard rock in the vicinity of the historical open pits. The true width of the mineralization is estimated to be a minimum of 40 metres. Hole SD011 (2.2 grams per tonne over 43.65 metres) was drilled 25 metres southwest along strike from SD005, in an area not previously drilled by Paranapanema. The gold mineralization delineated in the first 11 drill holes of the diamond-drill program at Tassawini west remains open in all directions. Drill hole locations and a drill hole location map are presented on StrataGold's website.

RC-drilling results

RC-drilling results obtained in the vicinity of the Tassawini open pits extended the known strike length of gold mineralization to the southwest of Tassawini open pit No. 2 by an additional 330 metres. Highlights of this program included F285 that intersected 2.48 grams per tonne over 19.81 metres, from a depth of 5.26 metres to 25.07 metres.

Geology and mineralization

Over the past 25 years, the property has been subject to extensive exploration, valued at roughly $11.5-million (U.S.), indicating significant gold mineralization is hosted by sheared and mylonitic, predominantly fine-grained turbidites and manganiferous phyllites, with minor intercalated pebbly sandstones and pyroclastic rocks. This geological environment suggests the region may have shared its origins with the Birrimian metasedimentary terrains of West Africa, where some of the world's richest gold deposits have been discovered.

Quality control and assurance

A rigorous quality control and assurance program (QC/QA) is in place, using control samples and duplicates, as well as chain of custody (COC) protocols, under the supervision of Bill Yeomans, PGeo, StrataGold's general manager, exploration, South America. Tamperproof sample bags with zip-lock tags are being used for all of the drill samples, which are freighted by air in sealed containers to ALS Chemex in Ontario. ALS Chemex is recognized as an ISO 9000-registered laboratory. The control samples and duplicate assay results received for the drilling program demonstrated to StrataGold that the results are considered reliable. However, due to the rigorous nature of StrataGold's QC/QA program, additional check assays will be conducted and these results are pending. The technical information in this news release has been prepared in accordance with Canadian regulatory requirements set out in National Instrument 43-101. Mr. Yeomans is designated as the qualified person having reviewed this information.
