we will see a gradual shift to a greater percentage of energy coming from sources other than hydrocarbons,

everybody who believes in peak oil believes this. the shift to other sources, which all have lower net energy return on energy invested than conventional oil production, is happening precisely because of peak oil.

actually, Chevron is late to the game and is simply copying BP, whose name now means "Beyond Petroleum". the marketing departments have to come up with something because production levels are declining.

due to peak oil, of course.
