I got a kick out of this self-therapy session disguised as a news article from Joe Galloway and Knight Ridder:

If only Bush could be Truman-esque.”

And the text consists of the following:

(1) bashing Bush over Katrina,
(2) patronizing Bush regarding Katrina,
(3) bashing him about Iraq and Afghanistan.

Yep.

Oddly enough, I don’t remember Galloway or Knight Ridder printing similar articles about Bill Clinton after Hurricane Georges tore apart the Florida Keys. Nor do I recall any similar missives after Hurricane Floyd beat the Eastern Seaboard out of shape.

Maybe they were too busy day trading tech stocks to write about those storms.

Come to think of it, Galloway and Knight Ridder didn’t break their arms to print similar articles when Clinton was playing that cat-and-mouse game with Saddam – with U.S. pilots getting shot at in the process – throughout his eight years in office.

Nor do I recall any similar articles being published when Clinton announced to Slobo – in advance – we would not use ground troops in Kosovo, and the “Butcher of Belgrade” systematically began slaughtering the province’s Muslims – women, children, and men alike.

Perhaps I missed those screeds.

Anybody around here recall seeing them?

Lastly, if Galloway and his brain dead employers *really* want President Bush to be more like Harry Truman, I’m sure they’ll eagerly support the President if and when he: (a) uses the military to break up or to prevent labor strikes in the private sectors (as President Truman did in April 1946, October 1946, August 1950, and April 1952), and (b) drops a couple of “bunker buster” nuclear weapons on suspected al-Qaeda hideouts along the Afghan/Pakistan border.

We’ll hear and see lavish praises about President Bush from Galloway and Knight Ridder then, won’t we?
