"Yes people carrying a gun are more likely to use it in inappropriate ways then someone without a gun"

I suppose so...hard to misuse a gun you don't have.

"Having a gun can make you, and the people around you safer."

They can kill people, true enough. So not that safe for them, I guess!

I DO think that (qualified) people should be allowed to oppose a totalitarian turn of Government or military takeover of Government--both of which will eventually happen in the United States.

But any ILLEGAL use of guns should command the most SEVERE penalties. Guns DO kill people. That is their primary purpose--and their victims may be visited in the morgue or in the moat.

Guns don't slice steaks or butter bread or cut shoe laces even. Guns are tools of murder and killing. Their ONLY purpose is to make creatures extinct--human creatures.

Gun control is NOT a subject to be cavalier about. It is a difficult issue. It is an issue where all sides must appreciate that it involves human life. It is not an issue to support either prejudice or thoughtlessness. It is a SERIOUS issue. And it should not be a partisan issue because there is legitimate ignorance, confusion, and buffet dinners on many fronts.

How do you toss a salad or slice a steak with a gun? Guns kill people. They don't toss pasta.
