Sure, but they have so much egg on their faces that who, except the most stupid or the most rabid fascists, will believe the attacks are "genuine".
But, as you put it, they don't have any "egg on their faces" in the first place! In case you haven't notice, apart from contrarian and maverick bloggers like me, outside the conspiratorial blogosphere, nobody in the media-military complex has challenged the official spiel about 911, the Madrid bombings, the London bombings, the Istanbul bombings, etc.
Only yesterday, French authorities announced the cranking-up of their so-called Plan Vigie-Pirate (into a Plan Ecarlate). Yet France's official policy --like Europe's and the US's-- is to chase after "ugly Arabs/Muslims", not after US citizens, much less after Jewish/Israeli terrorists.... Unfortunately, we're not in a context similar to that of the French-Algerian war(*) when public opinion wasn't blinded to OAS terrorism....
