Renewable-energy programs overseas cause local shortage of supplies and drive up prices

this spring, a friend installed solar on the cabin
he's building up along the north shore of Lake Superior.

says it's working out really well.

he had the system done up for him by a hardware store
up there that does a lot of these packages for people
who build cabins up there as so much land is too
far off the grid.
they get all of the components together for you and
you just pick it up and take it back to your place
and can install in about a day.

anyhow, in the spring they told him that it was getting really
hard for them to source panels because Germany was buying up
so much of the solar stuff.
