My Dad thought pounds were real money and all this other stuff wasn't the real thing :) Despite the fact he wanted to diversify out of Britain. We've been slowly getting rid of pounds but still too much... Gali (current temporary account manager) wants to offer me (or my Mom) bonds or a structured note (capital protected) but I can get to choose the currency I guess. I guess whatever stuff Citibank currently wants to get rid of :) I wonder what she'll say if we say we want to buy gold :) We are very underweight real estate (just my Mom's apartment :)) and Asia. At my urging we got some Japan/Asia stock funds which have done well but only 3-4% of the total at the moment. Maybe we can look for a Japan real estate fund. We don't own any individual stocks (policy of last account manager and I think my brother wouldn't be keen on that either). I've got a fund with British gas pipelines in it (CIFCA.ax). So far so good. I'm a bit uncertain about going forward if recession is inevitable how resource stocks will do. I have kept my holding in CFS Global Resources Fund and two gold miners... but am not adding more. Last night I switched another few percent from Aussie stock funds to mainly Aussie bond fund. Am holding USD that is piling up and not sending to Aus or anywhere. Been trading on the long side (News Corp, QQQQ, HHH etc.) a bit. But am planning to close out ahead of the weekend and maybe go short again. hmmm Have fun in Thailand. I only get to go to Washington next week (give presentation at the EPA). David PS: I sent my Mom an e-mail suggesting Japanese real estate and GLD. We will talk on Sunday to decide what to do...
