We are all set. Everything here has been taken care of and feel we are totally prepared. My husband's assistant called and her sister dropped off another case of water to us as she was going to her Mother's home to stay and her Mother had four cases of water for the two of them.

Everything has been moved from near windows and drapes closed. Our windows are metal frame and small so glass damage cracks may come but glass is tempered. The patio and all outside plants have been moved to the green house along with all hanging baskets along with their metal frames. Animals are all secured and happy, although they know a lot is going on and sticking close to us.

Have plenty of ice and if power goes out will use Igloo's set up to keep it in. Pantry is full of canned chicken, ham, tuna and crab. Don't think we will be in need of any food. First Aid kit is ready and have all medicines we need. Even have medications for cats should they need them. Bath tubs have been filled for flushing commodes should we lose power.

I have to say my family has taken the responsibility for all of this and I praise them as I am not as strong as I once was and didn't even need to supervise them....lol They did it all and I am so proud of them. I know we will be safe unless our home crumbles and I don't think it will. We are brick, with metal lathe under plaster walls and this house has always been so strong. We are lucky to have a basement in case a tornado comes through and have an emergency kit down there with anything we would need. If we lose electricity, then after it has gone through we will probably go to our daughter who lives about 69 miles from us and lives in an Austin stone home. They too are prepared and they use propane for water and have a lightening rod on the house. She had called and asked us to come out when we heard about the hurricane and if we have to when things have settled down we will probably do so until electricity is restored to our area. The city has thousands of people ready after the strom to get our city back up and operating in a normal manner. Trucks are gassed and ready to start picking up the debris soon after the all clear sign comes. I am also proud of what our city has done to keep us safe and our Mayor has been answering questions from our population and so glad we have him. He has always paid attention to details and made sure they are carried out. Our former shelters are not going to be used for this hurricane and we can understand why. They have all been repaired and cleaned and sport teams will not have to be delayed for the coming season. Damage control will be started immediately and we know he will get it done.

They are saying we WILL lose electricity, but do not know how long before we do. We may have to deal with flooding in the city a couple days after but we are on high ground and are not worrying about that for our area.

Our neighborhood has its own Police Dept. and they will be watching for anyone who needs assistance. They will be patrolling until the weather begins to set in.

We are leaving now to take my husband's and daughter's cars over to our office as we have covered parking downstairs and it does not flood in that area also, at least never has yet. We are hoping that it won't but there has been a lot of construction in that area and it will have to be tested this time. But everything we have is insured so all material things are covered.

Thanks for all your thoughts and prayers. Thinking we are going to really need God's help with this and hope we do not suffer the damage as Louisiana and Mississippi, but we have gone through that before and survived it.
