only when the public get real angry it seems anything will be done. congress plays to its base for support. Kennedy and kerry fight windmills 6 miles off nantucket as it will ruin the view. no one will allow lng plants to be built. let's see one was turned down in me or nh. last year. fall river ma. this year. yet sabel island is running out of natural gas which is one source new england relies on. there is proven reserves on carolina natural gas but the state fought the feds when contracts for off shore were given out and it took oil companies twenty years to get their money back through the courts. they had to sue to get their money back.

we should not be in this position but we are because we had congress not allow refineries to upgrade sections without total upgrades to meet current air standards. since these refineries were not making money or marginal at the time. They close or sold to smaller companies who wouldn't get the same grief from local and state regulators as large international firms.

so we need the public to send a message , get on the ball or get out.

ps the biggest kick we got was letting the electric utilities convert to natural gas vs upgrade their smoke stacks etc to burn coal or heavy fuels.. instead they took a limited source away from home heating to avoid higher operation costs. that consumer is paying through the nose for this action now .
