It looks like a research group in China is going for the NiMH battery business. I don't think they are license with ECD? From "china rare earth" site goggle that. Check message 8019 on ECD for more help in finding link.
Chunlan Group Is Confirmed to Be Supplier for MH/Ni Battery Pack for EV (Sept.23, 2005) Recently, the project ¡°MH/Ni Battery Pack and Its Managing Module for Hybrid Electric Bus¡± undertaken by Chunlan Group has been checked and accepted successfully by National 863 Projects Group. Chunlan Group is confirmed to be manufacturer and supplier for MH/Ni battery pack and its control system for EV in China. At present, Chunlan Group is establishing innovation base for advanced energy sources, engineering technology research center for advanced energy sources with national standard and industrialized base for 863 important fruits of science and technology and will try to become the world¡¯s supplier for advanced energy technology and products in 5 to 10 years. It is expected that production line for MH/Ni power battery with the capacity of 60Kwh per year will be built in Chunlan in 2007 as well as 300,000 electric bicycles and motorcycles per year. I believe Chunlan Group to have researched their own technology. Another post from sept 8 2005 from rare earth site.
42V MH/Ni Battery Packs Released from Chunlan Research Institute (Sept.8, 2005) Recently, 42V MH/Ni battery packs have been created by Chunlan Research Institute independently and are suitable for large current with more than 500A, specific power of which is near 850W/Kg at 3S and peak specific power of which is up to 1000W/Kg. Integrated properties of the new packs is prior to the world¡¯s level. According to demand of domestic and overseas customers, 8¡«600Ah MH/Ni power battery packs with high performance and low cost have also been developed while uninterrupted power sources with various specifications are outfitted.
Chunlan Research Institute will gain great benefits from the following fields through application of MH/Ni power batteries.
1. Vehicles including electric cycle, motorcycle, HEV, special vehicles, etc.
2. Ships and boats including large type of ships and boats for military and civil use with MH/Ni battery as power or backup power.
3. Intelligent machines such as robots, large digger, etc.
4. Mobile equipments, devices and tools such as electric saw, electric pickax, grass cutter, etc.
5. Important facilities such as factory, building, machinery room and communications.
